CCTV strategies

A great deal of investment has been made into CCTV technology as a key weapon in the crime reduction strategies adopted by town councils and local authorities. In some cases the results have been impressive. For example, Strathclyde reported a 75% drop after one installation. However, these results can be short-lived and lead to public disquiet.

A recent Home Office report found that this was not necessarily the fault of the technology but, more often, from difficulties in implementation, and clearly defining and understanding objectives at the outset.
